We are pleased to announce the appointment of David Guest as the Head of Sport at Guildford Grammar School, commencing in 2024.
David is an Olympian, Olympic coach, mentor, and performance analyst. David’s passion for sports, technology, and holistic student development is set to leave a lasting impact on our School community.
Originally from country Tasmania, David’s sporting journey began with a move to Perth to pursue an Australian Institute of Sport scholarship for Hockey. Settling in this beautiful state, influenced by serendipity and family, has proven to be a significant decision.
David’s journey spans the global sporting landscape – from grassroots to high-performance sport. As an Olympian, he has not only excelled on the field but has also taken on roles as an Olympic coach, mentor, and performance analyst. These experiences have shaped his team-building and leadership skills, instilling a deep understanding of discipline, teamwork, and the pursuit of excellence.
David expresses his eagerness about applying his elite sports background at Guildford Grammar School, stating, “The rich history and scenic setting of the School will make each working day a pleasure. I am looking forward to collaborating with the team and engaging with our students.”
Outside of sports and academics, David’s interests include golf, hockey, floorball and surfing – a reflection of his passion for diverse experiences. A tech enthusiast, avid reader, and devoted family man, David enjoys quality time with his wife Clare, daughter Emma, and their four-legged companion, Sunny. “A fun fact about me is that I accidentally got all my playing shirts signed by the team before the bronze medal match at the Beijing Olympics!
