Message from the Captain of Boats

The Head of the River may have been cancelled but our sense of community remains strong. Thank you to Captain of Boats, Finlay Pyke, for recording part of his Head of the River Dinner speech for us today. It was not only a timely message, but also a powerful reminder of what is important to us; unity, professionalism and pride, and working together towards a common goal. We reiterate everything in Finlay's message - let's all Go Forward in unity! Click here to watch the video.

Business Directory for GGS Families

We are pleased to provide an opportunity for current Guildford Grammar School families to advertise their businesses in the GGS Business Directory, encouraging parents to support each other by utilising their business and services.

This is an interim directory that will be available for families to use within the next two weeks.  We are currently investigating a more sustainable long-term online searchable directory, which will take more time to develop.

To list your business please complete our online form by clicking here.  If you cannot find an appropriate category please email your suggested category to and we will review your suggestion.

If you have any questions please contact Gillian MacDonald on 9377 9200 or email

Staying connected with our boarders

Following a statement by the Prime Minister in his media statement yesterday in relation to boarding students, our boarding families were advised that the boarding houses would be closed from this Friday. With this in mind we are keen for boarding families to stay connected with each other through the fortnightly Boarding Gazette, with content all generated by our boarding community.  We are asking boarding families to send us their stories, photos, examples of study spaces, ideas and suggestions so that we can share your stories through the Gazette.  Please email your stories and photos to

Congratulations to Honour Roll Recipients

Congratulations to all of the students who were named on the Honour Roll for Excellence in Attitude and Effort for Progress Report 1. You can view the list of recipients, by year and house, by clicking here.

Boarders - Student Travel Subsidy Scheme

From now until 30 April 2020, families will be able change their existing flights if students need to return home due to their educational institution or boarding facilities closing. The Department of Transport will cover the cost of changing flights (i.e. if there is a difference in flight costs), however discretionary expenses will still be borne by parents (i.e. extra baggage, seat allocation etc.). The amended booking must be in the same fare category as the existing booking.
These arrangements apply to CTM bookings, bookings through regional travel agents and direct with airlines.
CTM can be contacted by emailing or by phoning 1800 572 150 between 8am and 5pm Monday and Friday (excluding public holidays).
As the current situation is evolving, we will review supports post 30 April 2020 as required. Please email or phone 1300 660 147 if you have any queries or concerns about your child’s travel arrangements.

Book Club Reunion

Last weekend 24 former Book Club members returned to the School for a special Book Club reunion! The returning Book Clubbers included graduates from the classes of 2009-2019 and one even Skyped in for the event! What is the first rule of Book Club again?
