Term 1 Week 10

Anne Dunstan, Principal of Guildford Grammar SchoolThere is no doubt much has changed in our local, national and global community over the last few months.  With Easter and the school holidays only days away, it is important to provide you an update on how the School is continuing to respond to the many challenges we are all facing as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Firstly, we express our deepest gratitude to everyone in the Guildford Grammar School community for your support and understanding during this unprecedented time. We are committed to working in partnership with our families through these challenges together.

Remote Learning Update

The safety, health and wellbeing of our students, staff and families is our utmost priority. We have implemented a flexible learning environment that enables our students to continue their education safely at home.

Our staff are conducting regular boarding and mentor pastoral check-ins with the support of the Learning Enrichment Team, School Psychologists, Chaplains and Medical Centre staff and the delivery of our individual music lessons using an online format is proving to be successful.

We are greatly encouraged by our students’ willingness to embrace the new learning environment and their positive and creative responses to the new challenges presented to them. Over the last four weeks we have been listening carefully to student and parent feedback on the design and delivery of our approach to learning. We will continuously review to ensure we are meeting the needs of all students.

Term 2

At this stage, it is likely that all students will continue their learning from home for at least part of Term 2.

The boarding houses will remain closed at this time and learning will continue for all students as it has for the last two weeks.

We are mindful of the personal, financial and social impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on our families. The School Council and the Strategic Leadership Team have been reviewing all material aspects of the operations of the School to identify savings. To support you and your family, we are providing fee adjustments and an email to all families outlining this important information has been sent today.

We look forward to welcoming our boarders, and indeed all students, back to the School as soon as we are able.

Further information will be provided regarding Term 2 over the coming weeks.

Boarding Development

Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, construction on our exciting Boarding Development is still proceeding. This has been made possible through the substantial support of the Guildford Grammar School Foundation. We are most grateful for the Foundation’s significant investment in this important project that helps secure the future of our School.

Go Forward Scholarships

As you no doubt would be aware, the School has a proud history of providing educational opportunities for a broad range of students who would not normally have the means to attend the School, which is directly linked to our purpose, our Anglican ethos and egalitarian outlook.
The School is thrilled to offer the “Go Forward Foundation Educational Scholarship Trust”, which is a Deductible Gift Trust that acts as a vehicle to enable students to enrol at the School from Years 8 to 11 and experience the full range of opportunities that a Guildford Grammar School education can provide.
Since 2016, the School has offered a limited number of Go Forward Scholarships to students entering Years 8 to 11, who would not otherwise be able to afford to attend Guildford Grammar School and who display outstanding characteristics across a broad range of areas including high academic achievement.  The successful applicant is a student who has displayed qualities of excellence, respect, service, leadership and commitment within their school and wider community.
In 2021, the School will also be extending a limited number of opportunities, to our Guildford Grammar School families, whose son or daughter is currently attending the school.
Information on how to apply will be accessible on the website from Monday 20 April 2020.
Applications open on Monday 20 April, and close at 2.00pm on Friday 22 May 2020.  For further information, contact our Registrar on (08) 9377 9247 or via

We are heartened by the strength our Guildford Grammar School community has shown during these most difficult times and we are committed to supporting you and your family.

We wish all members of our community a safe, healthy and happy Easter.
