New Principal Welcomes Students for Start of Term 1
New Principal Welcomes Students for Start of Term 1
27 Jan 2020
Guildford Grammar School’s new Principal, Mrs Anne Dunstan, will officially welcome families to the School for the start of Term 1 at a commencement Chapel Service at 9.30am on Tuesday 27 January. The Chapel Service will conclude with a traditional Honour Guard along the Chapel Path where current students welcome new students to the School.
Over the past 23 years Anne has held senior positions in Early Learning to Year 12 independent schools. She was the Principal of Pulteney Grammar in Adelaide from 2014 to 2019 and prior to that was the Deputy Head and Head of Senior School at Scotch Oakburn College in Tasmania. Anne holds a Masters of Leadership and Education Management from the University of Newcastle and a Bachelor of Arts and Graduate Diploma of Education from the University of Adelaide.
Anne has significant experience in transformational change and has a track record of developing and implementing evidence-based goals in a collaborative way. She is skilled in the relational, strategic and operational domains of school leadership and has experience with capital projects including, most recently, the design, construction and opening of a new purpose-built Middle School at Pulteney Grammar School.
As an educator, Anne’s focus on student engagement and academic rigour has seen students grow and learn in and beyond school. She is also firmly committed to student wellbeing and pastoral care and to the provision of safe, nurturing and collaborative environments where students learn as equals, side by side, while also receiving the individualised support they need to thrive and excel.
“Education is my passion and I believe that there is no other occupation likely to have such a positive impact on the greater good and the wider world,” she said.
“The opportunity to work in partnership with the School Council to lead, serve and shape the education of girls and boys, young men and women in our dynamic and innovative environment is an exciting one.”
“My vision as the Principal is to motivate each student to approach all aspects of life with imagination, integrity, compassion and optimism. When students are supported and understand the learning process, their curiosity and engagement increase, fostering a growth mindset.”
Anne is excited at the opportunity to establish Guildford Grammar School as a preeminent coeducational day and boarding school for boys and girls, young women and young men.
“It is an exciting time to be in schools and to redefine what is an education worth having. I am genuinely committed to working collegially with each member of the School community to consistently advocate for and promote Guildford Grammar School’s intentions as a learning organisation for all.”
Mrs Dunstan will be commissioned as the Principal of Guildford Grammar School at a special Service at 8.45am on Wednesday 5 February. Further information on this event will be released next week.
