Guildford Grammar School will soon have the first synthetic hockey turf located in the Eastern Corridor of Perth. The turf is currently under construction adjacent to Roberts Oval. The turf being installed is a Polytan Platinum COOL plus in Rio Blue – this is the same turf that has been installed in Rio for the forthcoming Olympics. The turf will also be under full lighting to enable training and matches to be played in the evenings.
The turf will provide the School with significant opportunity to develop its hockey program and also form strategic partnerships with hockey clubs and Hockey WA in terms of the turf being used for training and matches. Three of the demountable classrooms and the toilet block will be relocated adjacent to the turf to provide necessary infrastructure.
The turf project is on time and it is due for completion by the end of April 2016.
This project has only been possible due to the generous support of the Guildford Grammar School Foundation who are underwriting the $2.7M project cost.
As a result of the hockey pitch there have been some changes to the kiss and drop arrangements in the Preparatory School, which are outlined below. These changes take effect from the first day of school:
A new kiss and drop area has been established, as shown in the map below and is in addition to the existing kiss and drop (so there are now two areas).
Cars exiting the new kiss and drop can only turn right to exit the school.
The road running alongside Roberts Oval is now a service road only and cannot be accessed as a gate has been installed.
A cross walk has been installed near the new kiss and drop.
Two new stop signs have been installed at the intersection near the car park. Please stop and give way to the right at all times.
New speed limit signs have been installed - please adhere to the 20kph speed limit AT ALL TIMES for the safety of one and all.
Parents should not exit the vehicle while in the kiss and drop area. Please move through the area as quickly as you can to avoid congestion. If you need to exit your vehicle, please park in the car park.
