In an exciting new initiative, Guildford Grammar School will host a playgroup for a 3-week trial, for babies through to school aged children, commencing on 20 October 2015. Initially the playgroup will be aimed at Guildford Grammar School families, and if successful, expanded to include the wider community.
The playgroup will be attended by Trina MacAdam from Playgroup WA, using the Out of School Care facilities. The playgroup will be seeking a couple of parents to volunteer as play leaders for the trial and moving forward. Out of School Care staff will not be involved in the program however a staff member will act as the liaison point between the School and the playgroup. The group will run on Tuesday mornings, at 8.45am, once the Centre is vacated and children are in class.
The format of the day will be:
* 45-minute free play session, incorporating inside and outside activities
* structured activity
* finish and songs.
Head of the Preparatory School, Mr Justin Krause, said that staff are working closely with Playgroup WA to implement this trial, following the Community/Family run model. “We are excited about the opportunities that this trial presents for our current families, and the natural links that we can build between the playgroup and our Early Learning Centre. We have great facilities for this sort of program, and with the additional resources that will be provided by Playgroup WA, we believe this will be a very successful initiative.”
The trial commences on 20 October. Anyone interested in registering to attend the playgroup, or nominating as a play leader, should contact Melanie Berrington from Out of School Care on 9377 9290 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
