Public lecture to commemorate Chapel Centenary

The School will host a public lecture on June 10 on the history of the significance of Chapels in Schools, both in the United Kingdom and Australia, which will be delivered by Professor Geoffrey Sherington of the University of Sydney in our Chapel of St Mary & St George in honour of the 100th Anniversary of its consecration in 1914.   Professor Sherington is Australia’s leading scholar on the history and place of private school education in Australia; he is himself an Old Boy of “Shore” in Sydney.

The lecture, which will commence at 7.00pm and be delivered in the Chapel, will analyse the place the foundation of the Chapel of St Mary & St George in the context of the experiences of other Public Schools: Winchester, Rugby, St Peter’s Collegiate School, Adelaide, Shore etc.  Refreshments will be served afterwards.
