Jarockaphonic Orchestra and Boodjar Bidi Dance Troupe to Tour Singapore

19 Jun 2014

The Guildford Grammar School Jarockaphonic Orchestra and Boodjar Bidi Dance Troupe will conduct a tour of Singapore during the July school holidays.  As part of the tour, the School will partner with Singapore schools, Edgefield Secondary School and Naval Base Secondary College, to host a Euphonious Concert in the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music.

The Jarockaphonic Orchestra was formed especially for the Euphonious Concert and combines members and elements of the GGS Concert band, G-Jazz Big Band, Senior Rock Band and String Orchestra.  The Orchestra will be joined by dancers and singers from Boodjar Bidi, an Indigenous dance troupe dedicated to sharing the stories and dances of Indigenous groups from across Western Australia.

The program, to be performed at a number of venues in Singapore, consists entirely of Australian songs by famous groups such as The Street Warriors, Midnight Oil, The Seekers and, of course, AC/DC.  The Boodjar Bidi Dance Troupe has performed at several school concerts and performed at the NAIDOC celebrations as a part of the Guildford Grammar School Indigenous program.

The tour group will also perform at the Millennium Hotel for a gathering of Old Guildfordians in Singapore.
Inspiring students to achieve personal excellence and to be outstanding citizens who work to create a just, loving and peaceful society.
