Three-year-old Program - Little Explorers

In 2016, we started looking at the opportunity of developing a unique program for three-year olds at Guildford Grammar School run through our Out of School Care Centre. We received excellent feedback from our survey in 2016 which has helped us to further design the structures and timings for a Little Explorers Program.

To provide flexibility, we would offer a two, three or five-day program operating from 9.00am to 2.30pm. The Little Explorers Program is a 3-year-old program with “wrap around care”.  Meaning parents of students enrolled in the program can also take advantage (if need be) of the Before School Care (BSC) program run from 7.00am and our After School Care (ASC) program run from 3.00pm (with supervision between the services). That way we can deliver BSC, ASC and the 9am – 2.30pm Little Explorers program as an option for you. There would be an extra cost to access the BSC and ASC service but those eligible can claim the Child Care Rebate.  The cost of the Little Explorers Program would be approximately $70 per session.

Our Little Explorers Program would be staffed by a trained Early Childhood teacher and Diploma qualified support staff and is designed to teach your girls and boys through a developmentally appropriate program in a stimulating and engaging environment. The Explorers Program will provide a safe environment where children’s interests drive the curriculum, and teachers and children develop projects together which incorporate all aspects of children’s learning. Play, creative arts, science, early literacy and numeracy will all be embedded in the Inquiry-based program.

The Little Explorers Program would run during term time and the children enrolled would also be eligible to book into the vacation care program.

We are currently exploring the option of this program starting in 2018 for your three-year-olds.  Our survey has closed, but anyone interested in further information can contact the Centre Coordinator, Melanie Berrington on (08) 9377 9290 or email melanie.berrington@ggs.wa.edu.au.
